There is no doubt that we are living in a time of tumultuous change. While this course can’t do much to slow things down, it can help you to think through the kind of role you can play, especially if overseas volunteering is something you’d like to do.

What can ‘WHERE DO I START?’ help you with?

The course will:

Provide you with an introductory framework for understanding development and the interconnectedness of global justice issues; guide and encourage you to think critically about your motivations for volunteering overseas and invite you to engage with the ‘Volunteer Charter’; invite you to explore how action for development can continue after an overseas experience and what responsible volunteering and the Code of Good Practice for Volunteer Sending Agencies mean.


  • Register below and participate in the upcoming lunchtime webinar series at 1pm sharp (Irish time) and wrapping up at 1.45pm:

  • Follow the online course material, undertaking the tasks yourself or with a group of colleagues/friends.

Throughout the online course, participants can offer their thoughts and reflections on topics raised and, for registered participants of the webinar, engage with fellow participants in a community of learning and receive feedback from experienced Comhlámh staff.

Progression from this short online course includes establishing relationships with Comhlámh member groups and Volunteer Sending Agencies and links to other issue based courses including Comhlámh pre-departure training and debriefing trainings.
