Exciting times here at Comhlámh as our peer facilitated creative writing group is really finding its feet.
So far Ruth Powell has done an excellent job facilitating the group and with her prompts has brought out some wonderful stories and memories, brought to life by the imaginative and real text brought forth by the members in this group.
This is not a therapy group but it defiantly brings back a bucketful of memories for those involved. Some happy, some sad but all very real and hugely entertaining. From the struggles of volunteering for the first time abroad to the wonderful aromas and sounds and warmth of the people. This writing group has such a positive and happy vibe, even when sharing writings of a sad nature, the response from all is always on a positive note about the emotion captured in the words.
We meet every fortnight on a Tuesday evening from 6.15 to 8pm here in the Comhlámh office on Parliament Street. Our next meeting is Tuesday the 11th of March. If you are a returned development worker or volunteer and would love to get your stories on paper in a non-judgemental and positive environment with others who will totally empathise and understand please drop in at our meeting or for more info contact Míde Ní Bhriain here in Comhlámh at 01-4783490 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
